The Tour Itinerary
Savor a hearty breakfast before joining your dedicated driver and experienced tour guide in the hotel lobby, marking the beginning of your Cappadocian adventure.
Begin by visiting Devrent Valley, which is famous for its naturally formed fairy chimneys in the shape of animals. Take some photos of the unique rock formations resembling various animals. Then, proceed to Zelve Open Air Museum, a former village where Greeks and Turks peacefully coexisted until 1924. After the population exchange, the town was left to the local Turks, who lived in cave dwellings until the 1960s, when it gradually became abandoned. Continue your journey to Pasabag, the Land of Fairy Chimneys, where you can wander and explore the intriguing multi-headed fairy chimneys.
Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, where you'll have the opportunity to try the pottery kebab, a traditional meat stew cooked in a unique pot for approximately three hours. After lunch, head to Goreme Open Air Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This museum was once a thriving monastery town, housing numerous monastery complexes consolidated in one place and previously used as a theology school. Marvel at the cave churches adorned with wall paintings depicting scenes from the Old Testament, New Testament, and apocryphal texts. Explore the communal kitchens and dining rooms to gain insight into the inhabitants' daily routines and worship practices.
Next, make your way to Avanos to visit a family-owned pottery workshop. Although it is called a pottery workshop, their art primarily focuses on crafting tiles. These tiles are created using white clay sourced from the old bank of the Red River, which flows through Avanos. During your visit, you will have the opportunity to witness a demonstration using red clay and learn about the artistry step by step.
Lastly, take in the breathtaking panoramic view of the castle from the outside, capturing the best angle. Afterward, you will be conveniently dropped off back at your hotel.
