After the population exchange, the town was left to the local Turks, who lived in cave dwellings until the 1960s, when it gradually became abandoned. Continue your journey to Pasabag, the Land of Fairy Chimneys, where you can wander and explore the intriguing multi-headed fairy chimneys.
Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, where you'll have the opportunity to try the pottery kebab, a traditional meat stew cooked in a unique pot for approximately three hours. After lunch, head to Goreme Open Air Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This museum was once a thriving monastery town, housing numerous monastery complexes consolidated in one place and previously used as a theology school.
